PTO Board Elections:
On May 14th we will hold elections for 2014-2015 school year. If you are interested in being a board member or would like to cast your vote for officers, please attend the meeting at 6:00 pm in the learning center. You must be present to be nominated and/or vote.

Fun Fair Update:
Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the fun fair! This was our first attempt at the PTO providing the games and prizes and not paying a third party to do so. With the help of many volunteers, including the generous parent and corporate donations (Don Carter, Famous Daves, Jersey Mikes, Nestle, Sonic, Swedish American), we were able to raise $1500. We hope the students, families and staff had fun! We are always open to suggestions and would like your feedback on how to improve this event for next year. If you have any ideas, suggestions or comments, please email Jenny at machesneyptoinfo@gmail.com.

Volunteers:
As the end of the school year approaches, the PTO Board would like to extend our gratitude to the many people who volunteered their time and ideas, donated items for events, or participated in the box tops, labels for education, funding factory
recycling program, Schnucks eScrip and restaurant fundraisers. All of your support has really made this year a great success. Without your help the PTO would cease to exist. It takes many hands and we thank you for all of them! J

Over the summer, please continue to collect Box Tops, Labels for Education and ink cartridges. Remember to use your Schnuck’s card whenever you shop at Schnucks. If you still need a card, please email machesneyptoinfo@gmail.com.

Last PTO meeting for the year is :
Wednesday May 14th at 6:00pm in the learning center
We hope everyone has a safe and fun summer.

What the Machesney Families have done for your school this year…THANK YOU
Sometimes it may feel like all the PTO does is ask for you to help, donate & fundraise. We don’t always communicate how your PTO has been able to help the students at Machesney. Due to constant budget cuts, sometimes, additional educational tools that benefit all students get put on the chopping block. Thanks to the generosity and support of Machesney Parents, so far this year, the PTO was able to cover the costs of the Accelerated Reader Program, Scholastic News, PE/Recess equipment, and provide funding to help purchase IPads for the Art Department. Additionally, we have provided field trip funds to offset the cost per student and are working on helping with the start up costs of the new Chess Club. With your continued support, the PTO will be able to continue it’s goal of building a strong partnership between the families and the school, making Machesney Elementary an even greater place for our students!

This is a FREE event for Machesney Park Students and their Families!

Children MUST be accompanied by an adult. This is a FAMILY event.

Movie Etiquette:

Parents, please take a few minutes to go over these basic etiquette guidelines with your child(ren). It is our hope that by following these guidelines, everyone’s movie-going experience will be a good one.

1. Please do not talk during the movie. We want everyone to enjoy the movie and even if a few people are talking in normal tones, it makes it very loud in the gym and hard to hear.             Additionally, please silence all cell phones.

2. Refrain from getting up and down. People behind us are trying to watch the movie and too many trips to the bathroom, drinking fountain, etc. are distracting and unnecessary.

3. Tonight the gym is a movie theater NOT a gym.  Running will not be tolerated. Families are asked to come into the gym, select an area to sit, (only a few bleachers rows will be available on a first come first serve basis) and visit quietly until the movie begins.

4. Enjoy and have fun!
